Interaction model

An avatar in the game is the character the player is playing as, in some games players can customize their avatars so people can differentiate, this is especially common in MMO (massive multiplayer online) games. WoW is a great example as you can create your own avatar with a race and a name.



A player can make their avatar look like them, what the player wants to look like or completely different.



A god simulator on the other hand allows the player to view everything from the sky, therefore there is no avatar for the player, they are omnipresent, meaning they are everywhere at once. This means that other players have no idea on their location in the game or where they are looking at on the map. This is common on turn based strategy games (TBS), real time strategy games (RTS) and simulation games,
